Expand the mental health workforce
More than 160 million Americans live in a mental health
provider shortage area, and over half of U.S. counties have no psychiatrists.
This means that despite a growing demand for mental health services, many
people are still unable to access the help they need.
There are not enough providers to treat people with
mental illness, and that needs to change. We need policies that: promote loan relief programs for mental health professionals, parity in reimbursement for services, support for workplace mental health, and education for early career professionals about opportunities in the mental health field.
